Michael Vick’s dogs

You remember the sad case of the football player Michael Vick, right? The star athelete who was also breeding and fighting Pitbulls and you know what happened to him…but did you wonder what happened to all those dogs?

I sure did.I often thought of them and assumed the worst had happened-that they would be termed vicious and put to death. I just didn’t have any faith in our judicial system…but I should have known someone would do something… Valparaiso Law School professor Rebecca Huss was appointed by U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson to determine which shelters should get which dogs. There were many shelters applying to take them in. Rebecca Voss said:

“Best Friends Animal Society is accustomed to dealing with dogs who have special medical and behavioral needs,” Best Friends Animal Society is committed to providing what each of the dogs needs to be able to thrive in a sanctuary environment if it is necessary for a dog to remain in such an environment for life.”

So it was decided that BF would get 22 of the 47 surviving ‘Pits.

My mom works for them and just sent me an email letting me know that the pits were being prepared by a BF team for the long drive from Virginia to Utah.
BF had become ‘Pit central during and after Hurricane Katrina.

You can read the whole report on the BF
website

My dog Bozzio and I are very happy with the outcome of the fate of those dogs.At least I think he is happy-right now he is asleep.
Please consider giving BF a donation so that they can “keep up the good work”.

Re arranging

I have mild OCD as if you didn’t know that already judging by how often I redesign this site.

I have this thing about arranging things. If I lived with you you would find your stuff tidied away while you were not looking. You might not even be able to find them. You slob. Serves you right for flinging your crap all over.

Project Runway, the latest episode.

Nina Garcia is a flinty bitchy cow.

Jack should not have had to leave.

Chris’ outfit was way worse than Steven’s.

The only reason they keep Ricky on is because he cries all the time and they need the drama. Otherwise, he should have hit the road 2 challenges ago.

How long do they make the poor dears wait before they tell them what each new challenge or suprise is? Because I am sick of hearing from the contestants “I wonder what it is ?”

It is getting OLD.

Also are the editors raping the cute factor a little bit by repeating on this newest show Christian’s catty comment (The judges might die over it or they might die because of it) the same comment he made on last weeks show–or is he just saying it again? Mystery!

Wednesday evening, 2 quiches later…

I got the crazy idea that I should make quiche.Because I never have. So off to the store to get the ingredients. One potentially fatal flaw to the quiche outcome was that the local store had only ready made graham cracker pie shells for sale. I grabbed them anyway. To hell with first time quiche and pie shell making at the same time? I am not stupid you know.So the crusts were a bit sweet- it didn’t kill us. It made us stronger.

I made 2 quiche:one with cheese, onion and mushroom- the other with cheese, broccoli and onion. Our toaster oven could only fit one quiche at a time and the mushroom was the one I made first so that is the one we ate for dinner. The broccoli sits in the fridge, unmolested for now.

Although it was 100% vegetarian the mushroom quiche was highly edible. That and a side of brussels sprouts was plenty for 2 folks and we are almost done with our first week of less red meat more (antibiotic free or kosher) chicken and vegetable diet.We haven’t eaten red meat since the lamb and lentil stew I wrote of a hundred years ago (last week).

The unfortunate side affect of a more vegetable laden diet is gas. Allegedly less meat is supposed to free up the bowel and freshen the breath-but all we have noticed so far is gas and greener pee. Wondrous!
