I have an employer who suffers from Mailitis. I am a fellow sufferer so we came up with a way for him to pay me using Paypal which does away with the whole mailing a letter thing. Only trouble is Paypal is going to get 12 dollars each time I get paid. 12 dollars? There has to be another way. And get this: Paypal took one dollar out of my account. For what reason? I don’t know. This worries me. This account-tweasing was done before I performed the Request Money request of my boss. The not funny thing is I think it was some sort of charge because I called customer service. Uncool.
I don’t think using Paypal as a means to get paid is good for anyone other than Paypal.
Paypal definitely sucks if you are going to get paid quite a lot of money because they take out so much. As for them taking $1.00 out for no reason, that I can’t say but I wouldn’t put it past them for doing so because you called into Customer Service. I’ve heard worse things but yet, I haven’t found a comparable service!
I ended up having to call again- I wonder if they helped themselves to another buck.
But anyway, Hi Jamie!
I use paypal sometimes and for small jobs I actually prefer new clients to use it as knowing that they have paid me is better than sending reminder after reminder for a few months.
For larger projects, sometimes we will accept a deposit by paypal so we dont have to wait for the check.
What I find funny is that Paypal is basically an unregulated bank. They will charge what they want, when they want – and their service is terrible.
I’ve been on both sides of the coin with paypal first as a consumer and then as a business. I’ll never leave more than $100 in the Paypal account and I’ll never trust them with my money ;).
@paul bradish: I do not like to rely on them at all. But it’s that or deal with “the check is in the mail” cliche.
I transferred the $ to my bank account as fast as I could.
