Moving day part 2

I finally grasped and completed the process of a domain name transfer from one registrar to another.I have a domain mccormicky.com and I want to keep it because it was my nickname and it was the only nickname I ever had that I actually liked.

I owe Lycos an apology for thinking they’d be an obstacle to the transfer. But that isn’t to say that they make it easy because they kind of don’t.

They do not fully explain the process. They simply state that you have to talk to the registrar you want to transfer to to find out how to do it. And Lycos was my domain reseller not even my registrar. Melbourne IT is my domain host. I wrote to both and some automated emails linked me to a page on my Lycos account I had never seen before. That page plus the info from TuCows made it possible to sort of figure it out.Although the TuCows form didn’t spell out exactly which code I had to enter for the transfer.I found that by unlocking my domain in Lycos and voila there it was.I wish there was a way to make things easier to find in your own accounts pages but I guess they hide it so people can’t steal it.Anyway now all I have to do is wait about 5 days and my new site will be at http://mccormicky.com.
Neat.
