Staten Island OutLOUD is a community dialogue and performance project…
We present a continuing series of grass-roots readings of world classics, historic texts and other compelling works. Most of our events are intimate participatory readings, and some are large staged performances with music and dance. We meet in historic sites, nature preserves, delis, bookshops, museums, galleries, public housing projects, on the beach, on trains and on the Ferry, in libraries, parks and playgrounds, cafes, community centers, and in churches, temples, mosques and synagogues.
Our events draw diverse, inter-generational participants.
We also offer a variety of programs that are geared to youth and teens – We’re nurturing a new generation of readers and writers.
We’re all volunteers and we operate on a shoestring. Our events are free, and open to the public.
To get involved, all you have to do is show up!
