Pictures Of Utah

I’ve never really tried to find a gallery plugin that works for this blog.Therefore my pics of Utah are going to be shown in another folder. I went to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary…I’ll try to make that a separate bunch. I also drove thru Colorado City, mostly known for being a town of plyggys(short for polygamous) Big Love lovers watch for the pic of the sign for Hildale.I think that’s where Bill says he is from.This explains those otherwise boring “shot from a car window” photos that none could possibly otherwise ever want to see!

I was limited for time so we only went to one octagon in “Dogtown”. I regret not taking photos inside the Exotic Bird house but I didn’t want to upset them.But there were Macaws and a bunch of other parrots that I forget the names of…

I Am Back From Utah

I got back late last night.

The flight(s) were hell,both there and back.The cab prices to Newark from Brooklyn are now 65 bucks plus tolls.Delta made my connecting flight from Salt Lake City to St.George so close I had to run from one end of the airport to the other.Then when I got to St.George I found out my bag hadn’t made it.They delivered it to Kanab the next day,though.Getting to Kanab from St.George is a 2 hour drive.I guess that was my compensation?

My actual stay in Kanab was uneventful.Ate.Slept.Read (4 books).Took pictures.

Getting back the flight was close,too.Not as close as the other but close enough that I couldn’t buy a sandwich and a cup of coffee so I just got coffee,more important.Delta no longer serves anything resembling food on their domestic flights,just half a can of soda and a cookie(or chips or crackers) then another bag of chips and another half a can of soda.5 bucks for headsets,5 bucks for a cocktail(I didn’t buy either).I guess all we get for our money is we get there.

The domestic flying experience has deteriorated in the year and a half since I went to see mom.

Why is it that no matter how many of those 5 dollar headsets you buy on the plane you will never remember to bring one with you the next time you fly?

I don’t like to drink on planes and I don’t like to watch movies on those tiny screens-so I just read and slept.

Today I Go To Utah

I’m packed.I’m awake.My plane leaves at 5pm.All I have to do is take a shower and decide what to wear.I got no sleep.I can never sleep before I fly.

I haven’t seen my mom in almost 2 years.Last year instead of going to Utah, A. and I went to Israel.

Well it’s going to be awhile before I bore you again with another pointless post(10 days)so don’t forget me! I know how you internet folks have short memories.

Geekery For The Week

I’ve been trying out WordPress to set up a friend’s online art gallery.

But I just kept getting stuck on the same thing over and over.Because I am no WP genius my options are to look for a theme that resembles what I want.I do not like to use themes.But with WP it’s different because a theme isn’t just a design,it’s widget-ready and set up with all the correct WP “hooks”.I don’t quite yet know what all of these are so to fast-track my last job(my client had a short build time)I just heavily converted a premade theme. Now that I have the luxury of time I have considered making my own theme for my friend’s artwork…but I dunno.Seems like a lot of fiddling about when I could just load up a PHP script or 2.

Is it worth it in order to have the WP community and all the cool plugins and etc to turn to? If this were a site for a friend who meant to actually use her site then it would be worth it.But all she wants is her art online.That’s it.Just a place to send folks to see her work.She isn’t going to blog.She probably won’t want comments.I don’t want her art pages to have comments.
I will just have to think about it.
